What we check on your payslip

Four areas, checked instantly against 2026/27 HMRC figures.

💷

PAYE Income Tax

We check your tax code is correct and that the right amount is being deducted based on your gross pay and the 2026/27 PAYE bands.

🪪

National Insurance

We verify your NI category and confirm the correct percentage is being taken. Category A employees pay 8% on earnings between £12,570 and £50,270 in 2026/27.

🏦

Pension Contribution

We check your pension is calculating on the right salary figure and using the correct scheme type — salary sacrifice, net pay, or relief at source.

🎓

Student Loan

We confirm the right plan threshold is being applied. Plan 2 deducts 9% of earnings above £28,470. Wrong plan = wrong deduction amount.

Frequently asked questions

Is it safe to upload my payslip?
You are not actually uploading your payslip to any server. The photo or file is processed entirely in your browser on your own device. Nothing is sent anywhere. No data is stored. Your NI number, salary, and personal details stay completely private.
What happens after I upload my payslip?
Our AI reads the key figures from your payslip and pre-fills the calculation form. You then confirm or correct the figures, and instantly see a full breakdown of what you should be paying versus what your payslip shows.
What if I do not want to upload a photo?
Click 'Enter figures manually instead' on the upload screen. You'll get a form where you enter your gross pay, tax code, and deductions. The calculator checks everything instantly against 2026/27 HMRC figures.
What if the AI can't read my payslip clearly?
If the AI can't extract all figures, we'll show you a pre-filled form with the data it did read, and highlight in red the fields it couldn't extract. You fill in the gaps and we run the check from there.
How accurate is the payslip checker?
Our calculation engine uses the official 2026/27 HMRC PAYE bands, NI thresholds, and student loan plan thresholds. Results are accurate for standard PAYE employees. Some employer-specific deductions like childcare vouchers or cycle-to-work may not appear in our calculation.

What does our payslip checker look for?

Our AI-powered payslip checker verifies every major deduction on your UK payslip. It reads your gross pay, tax code, Income Tax (PAYE), National Insurance contributions, workplace pension deductions, and student loan repayments. It then recalculates each one using the official HMRC rules for the 2026/27 tax year, comparing its figures against the ones shown on your actual payslip. If there is any discrepancy — even a few pence — the tool flags it immediately.

Common payslip errors we find

The most frequent error is an emergency tax code (1257L M1 or 0T W1) applied when you start a new job. Another common issue is a BR code on your primary job, which removes your entire personal allowance. We also catch pension percentages calculated on the wrong salary figure, and student loan deductions applied on the wrong repayment plan — potentially costing you hundreds per year.
