The short version: We do not collect, store, or transmit your payslip data, salary figures, or personal financial information. All calculator inputs are processed entirely in your browser. We do use Google Analytics (with your consent) and Google AdSense to support the free service.

1. Who We Are

Payslip Checker (www.payslipchecker.uk) is a UK-based educational web service that provides free payslip calculators and tax guides. For privacy enquiries, contact us at privacy@payslipchecker.uk.

2. What Data We Collect

The following is a complete list of the data we may collect:

  • Contact form submissions: When you use the contact form on our Contact page, your name, email address, subject, and message are submitted to Formspree, Inc.(formspree.io), a third-party form processing service. Formspree processes this data on our behalf to deliver your message to us. We retain contact enquiries for up to 12 months. Formspree's privacy policy applies: formspree.io/legal/privacy-policy.
  • Newsletter subscribers: If you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter, your email address is submitted to Formspree, Inc. and stored securely. We use this solely to send you monthly UK tax tips. You can unsubscribe at any time by contacting us at hello@payslipchecker.uk.
  • Analytics data (with consent): When you accept optional cookies, we use Google Analytics 4 (GA4)to understand which pages are visited, how users navigate the site, and general usage trends. This data is anonymised and aggregated. No personally identifiable information is collected by analytics. You can opt out at any time by clicking “Decline Optional” in our cookie banner or via the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
  • Advertising data (with consent): We use Google AdSenseto display advertisements on this site. When you accept optional cookies, AdSense may use cookies to personalise the ads shown to you based on your interests. When you decline optional cookies, only non-personalised ads are displayed — no interest-based data is collected. Google's privacy policy applies to these interactions: policies.google.com/privacy.
  • Technical / server logs: Standard web server logs may include your IP address, browser type, and referring URL. These are retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes only and are never shared with third parties.

3. What Data We Do NOT Collect

  • Your salary, gross pay, or any financial figures you enter into our calculators
  • Your tax code, National Insurance number, or employer information
  • Any payslip data or uploaded documents (we have no upload feature)
  • Your name, address, or personal identification

All calculator inputs are processed entirely within your browser using JavaScript. No calculation data is ever transmitted to our servers.

4. Cookies

We use two categories of cookies:

  • Strictly necessary cookies: Required for the website to function (e.g. storing your cookie preference). These are always active.
  • Optional / analytics & advertising cookies:Used by Google Analytics and Google AdSense. These are only activated if you click “Accept All” in our cookie banner. You can withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser cookies or by revisiting our cookie banner.

We implement Google Consent Mode v2. When you decline optional cookies, all ad_storage, analytics_storage, ad_user_data, and ad_personalization signals are set to “denied” and only non-personalised ads are shown.

5. Local Storage (Browser)

Our “Compare Payslips” feature may save your previous calculation results to your browser's localStorage. This data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us. You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's site data.

6. Affiliate Links

Payslip Checker includes contextual affiliate links to third-party services such as RIFT Tax Refunds, PensionBee, and Unbiased.co.uk. These are clearly labelled as “Partner” links. When you click these links, you will leave Payslip Checker and be subject to the privacy policy of the third-party site. We may earn a referral fee; we do not share any personal data with affiliate partners.

7. Your Rights Under UK GDPR

Under UK GDPR, you have the right to:

  • Access any personal data we hold about you
  • Request correction of inaccurate personal data
  • Request erasure of your personal data
  • Withdraw consent for optional cookies at any time
