What data we collect
Payslip Checker is designed to be as private as possible. The following is a complete list of data we may collect:
- Newsletter subscribers: If you voluntarily subscribe to our newsletter, we collect your email address only. We use this solely to send you tax tips and updates. You can unsubscribe at any time.
- Anonymous analytics: We use privacy-respecting analytics to understand which pages are visited and how the site is used (page views, approximate country, browser type). No personally identifiable information is collected. We do not use Google Analytics.
- Technical data: Standard web server logs may include your IP address, browser type, and referring URL. These are retained for up to 30 days for security and debugging purposes only.
What data we do NOT collect
- Your salary, gross pay, or any financial figures you enter into our calculators
- Your tax code, National Insurance number, or employer information
- Any payslip data or uploaded documents
- Your name, address, or personal identification
All calculator inputs are processed entirely within your browser using JavaScript. No calculation data is transmitted to our servers at any point.
Local storage (browser)
Our “Compare Payslips” feature saves your previous calculation results to your browser's localStorage. This data is stored only on your device and is never transmitted to us. You can clear this data at any time by clearing your browser's site data or local storage.
Third-party services
Payslip Checker may include links to affiliate partners (RIFT Tax Refunds, PensionBee, Unbiased.co.uk). These are clearly labelled as “Partner” links. When you click these links, you will leave Payslip Checker and be subject to the privacy policy of the third-party site.
We do not share any personal data with affiliate partners.
Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies only — these are required for the website to function correctly. We do not use advertising cookies, tracking cookies, or third-party cookies for profiling purposes.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, or erase any personal data we hold about you. Because we collect very little personal data, the primary use case is newsletter subscribers requesting removal of their email address.
