How to Access Your Primark Payslip (Zellis/MyView)
Primark operates a digital payroll system through Zellis PeopleAdmin (MyView) — the same portal used by Boots and other major UK retailers. You will not receive a paper payslip.
- Go to the Primark People portal (your store manager can give you the exact URL)
- Log in using your employee ID number and password
- Navigate to My Pay or Payslips section
- Select the pay period you want to view
Common login issue: If your employee ID is shorter than 8 digits, try padding with leading zeros (e.g., ID 123456 → enter 00123456). If still locked out, contact your People Manager — not the general HR helpline.
What Each Line on Your Primark Payslip Means
Basic Pay
Your hourly rate (£13.00/hr nationally, £13.71/hr London) multiplied by the hours worked in the pay period. If you worked any overtime, it should appear as a separate line.
PAYE Income Tax
Income tax deducted under Pay As You Earn. Your tax code (shown at the top of the payslip) determines how much is deducted. The standard code is 1257L — meaning your first £12,570 of earnings each year is tax-free. Check our Tax Code Checker if yours looks different.
National Insurance (NI)
You pay 8% NI on earnings between £12,570 and £50,270 per year. At Primark's part-time rates, most staff pay relatively little NI — only hours that take your annualised earnings above £12,570 are subject to NI deductions.
Pension (Auto-Enrolment)
If you are eligible (aged 22–66 and earning over £10,000/year), Primark auto-enrols you in a workplace pension. You contribute a minimum of 5% of qualifying earnings and Primark adds at least 3%. You can opt out within one month, but you will lose the employer contribution.
Emergency Tax — Why Your First Payslip Might Be Wrong
If it's your first job or you haven't provided your P45 from a previous employer, Primark's payroll will apply an emergency tax code (usually 1257L W1/M1 or BR). This means you might pay too much tax on your first payslip. It usually corrects itself within 1–2 pay periods once HMRC updates your code. See our Emergency Tax guide for how to fix it faster.
Claiming Uniform Tax Relief
If you are required to wear a Primark uniform or branded clothing at work and you wash it yourself at home, you can claim a flat rate expense allowance from HMRC. For retail workers this is typically £60/year — giving a tax refund of £12 (basic rate taxpayer). You can claim the last 4 years back for free at gov.uk. Use our Uniform Tax Rebate Calculator to see your exact refund.
